GM recalls vehicles due to car seat safety problems
More than 660,000 SUVs are being recalled by General Motors because of a possible automobile seat pad safety issue.
The rear-seat LATCH anchorage bars, which are used to secure car seats, may have "excessive powder coating" in some models of Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles, according to a recall notice published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website on Thursday. This would make it impossible to install the rear-seat LATCH anchorage bars.
When installing a car seat, the LATCH (lower anchors and tethers for children) attachment mechanism can be utilized in place of the seat belt.
